All fall down day

Hi

What a day ... does that sound familiar.

Today I was struggling to get the projector to interface for a video conference teaching session on Orthopaedics. Yes, I know that is not my field but the idiom states: "Jack of all trades ...."

Anyway, I decided to climb onto the boardroom table which then collapsed, leaving me writhing in pain with a sore ankle. The session suddenly changed from theory to practice.

Fortunately it was a minor injury which required no medical intervention. The damage to the ego however is something entirely different.

I am thinking about changing my research as SANC has recently circulated a directive to stop all curriculum development. Luckily I am involved in an intiative which may be suitable. This is rather late in the process to change but life tends to throw these curve balls to challenge us.

Regards

B

  1. Hallo B
Hope your ankle and ego have recovered by now.It is OK to be human. Sometimes we try so hard to be in control of everything that happens to us. I have realised that our real strenghts lies in our ability to handle things when they do not go as planned. I have a saying in my room/study that reads: "A successful man is one who can lay a firm foundation with the bricks others throw at him", so.... let's catch the bricks!!

  2. Hope you are much better Bronwen!
Could you give us an idea of why SANC decided to stop all curriculum development? I would like to hear what you decide on doing.

Also: Thanks for the bio and the personal anecdote, it makes for good reading and is quite important (I think) for succesful blogs. Seems that good blog posts often come from experiencing some discomfort. Just read a blog entry by Thomas Kuhlmann on the Rapid e-Learning blog (http://www.articulate.com/rapid-elearning/three-things-i-learned-about-learning-on-my-deathbed/).
Anyway - great to see you are up and posting (and Estelle!).
